Recite any of the several opening supplications taught by Prophet Muhammad, one of which is given below.

subHaanaka-LLahumma wabiHamdikka watabaaraka-smuka wataxaalaa jadduka wa-laa ilaaha ghairuka

Meaning: "Glory be to you, O Allah, and all praises are due unto you, and blessed is your name and high is your majesty and none is worthy of worship but you"

After that recite Fathiha, the opening chapter of the Quran.

(1)Bismillahi-rrahmaani-rraheem. (2) alHamdu lillahi rabbil:aalamiin. (3) arraHmaani-rraHiim (4) maaliki yawmiddiin (5)iyyaka na:budu wa-iyyaka nasta:iin (6) ihdina SSiraaTal musTaqeem (7) SiraaTalladiina an:amta :alayhim ghayril maghDhuubi :alayhim walaDhDhaalliin (amiin )

Meaning
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

1. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
2. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
3. Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
4. Master of the Day of Judgment.
5. Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
6. Show us the straight way,
7. The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

After that recite a small portion or chapter (Surah) in the Quran as follows :

Bismillahi-rrahmaani-rraheem, Qul huwaLLahu aHad, aLLahu-SSamad, lam yalid walam yoolad, walam yakun-llahu kufuwan aHad

Meaning:
1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
4. And there is none like unto Him.

Note: In congregational prayers this portion from the Quran too is recited loudly during the first two units (Rakats) by the Imam for prayers except the noon prayer (Dhuhr) and afernoon prayer (Asr).
