Qunoot
Qunoot is a special supplication normally delivered during
the witr prayer. Some also consider it a must
for the Fajr prayer, albeit without much authenticity.
Qunoot is also optionally delivered during
congregational prayer. This is usually done during some calamity facing
the community and so on.
Qunoot is delivered during Qawmah, after the normal recitation
there, in the last unit of the prayer. Here the Imam and the followers
raise their arms as shown below. Imam recites the supplication loudly,
and the followers says "amiin" loudly after each sentence.

| O Allah, make me among those whom you have guided,
and make me among those whom you have saved, and make me among those
whom you have chosen, and bless whatever you have given me, and protect
me from the evil which you have decreed; verily, you decide the things
and nobody can decide against you; surely the person you befriend
cant be disgraced, and the person you oppose cant be honoured. You
are blessed, our Lord, and exalted, we ask for you forgiveness and
turn to you. Peace and mercy of Allah be upon the Prophet. (Abu Dawud,
Nisai, Ibn Majah, Tirmizi) |
After completing the Qunoot then we go to Sajdah.
